How it works

Export Claude Code output to WordPress in four steps

  • Build the frontend with Claude Code

Work in your terminal as usual. One constraint matters for conversion: keep the frontend on React with Vite and avoid server-side rendering — Claude Code will follow that instruction directly if you state it up front.

  • Commit and push as you already do

There is no export step. Your work is already a git repository, so pushing to GitHub is the only preparation the conversion needs.

  • Connect the repo to transjt

Authorize GitHub in your transjt project and select the repository, including a branch if you want to convert from something other than main. transjt reads the component tree and resolves your styles.

  • Export to WordPress

Choose WordPress and review the preview. Confirm, and transjt writes a theme folder — PHP templates and native markup you can read, review and commit alongside the rest of the project.

Six situations where the React in your repo should become a WordPress theme rather than a hand-written one.

  • CMS Integration is missing

The code is already in git. There is nothing to export.

Claude Code works directly in your repository, so the handover step other tools require does not exist here. Point transjt at the repo you are already committing to and the conversion starts from what you have.

  • ready project by yesterday

You could write the PHP. That is not the point.

Any competent developer can produce a WordPress theme by hand. Whether that is a good use of a week, when the design is finished and the deadline is not moving, is a different question entirely.

  • dev-team is busy

The client needs to edit it and you need to stop being support

A React build means every text change comes back to you. A theme puts that content in the WordPress editor, which is the difference between shipping a project and acquiring a maintenance obligation.

  • running out of time

You are working in an existing codebase

Claude Code is at its best iterating on code that already exists rather than starting from a prompt. transjt converts whatever state the frontend has reached, so refactor first and convert when you are ready.

  • running out of budget

The agency retainer doesn't cover a theme build

Custom theme development is priced as its own project because it is one. Automating the conversion keeps the work inside the budget the design was scoped against.

  • cant code hubl theme

The stack should be boring where it can be

Hosting, backups, plugins, editorial workflow — WordPress solved all of it years ago. Converting lets you keep an interesting frontend and stop maintaining infrastructure that has no reason to be interesting.

What a Claude Code to WordPress theme actually contains

WordPress remains the default for content-driven sites because hosting is commodity, the editorial tooling is mature, and the plugin ecosystem has already solved most recurring problems. The tax is the theme layer: someone has to express a React frontend as PHP templates. transjt automates that translation, producing readable theme files rather than a build artefact you cannot review.
